Real-world experience shaped how I think about design
behind my work
My path to web design wasn't exactly linear. It began in the Netherlands, moved through esthetics, hospitality, and wellness, and eventually led to 24 years of owning and running a boutique spa in Charlotte.
Along the way, I learned to pay attention to the details like the moments that make an experience feel effortless, the ones that create friction, and everything in between.
It was demanding work. It was also my greatest education.
I saw a need in the beauty and wellness industry and decided to build something to help. That idea became Spadweller, a platform helping professionals grow their businesses online.
I also discovered how much I enjoyed the creative side of building it.
I built the Spadweller website in WordPress, and from there I discovered Showit. I liked how easy it was to use and how much freedom it gave me to design.
And that's how web design became part of what I do today.
Then I stepped into the digital world
Running a business taught me that nothing is set in stone. You learn what works, get better at what you do, and your business grows right along with you.
Sometimes the website needs to catch up.
When a business grows, the website should too. It should feel like the business you’re running today, not the one you started with.
To me, that makes a website part of the business and not something sitting off to the side.
I see the bigger picture
I’ve also spent time studying UX, Design Thinking, service design, digital marketing, and e-commerce. All of it has made me especially interested in what happens on the other side of the screen, how a website feels to use and how well it serves the business behind it.

Curious what I can do for your business?
Outside of work, I like a good mix of the everyday and the slightly adventurous. I take long walks, meet friends for dinner, listen to live jazz, and recently took up pickleball. I love cooking, especially dishes from places I've traveled. One of my favorite travel memories is a cooking class in Bangkok.
I live near Charlotte with my husband, our dog, and two grown daughters (how time flies) and still make it back to the Netherlands whenever I can.
